STAR Reflections for Digital Portfolio:
Reflection on Coding CV in Markdown:
Situation:
When I started creating my digital portfolio, I used an older version of my CV that was not fully professional and contained unnecessary information, such as repeated references and inconsistent formatting.
Task: My task was to improve and convert my CV into Markdown format for GitHub, ensuring that it was clean, professional, and suitable for a final-year ICT student applying for opportunities.
Action:
I carefully reviewed my CV and removed unnecessary and repeated content, especially the references section. I then rewrote and structured the CV properly, making sure all sections were clear and relevant. After that, I converted the CV into Markdown, ensuring proper formatting, headings, and readability. I also double-checked everything to make sure there were no errors.
Result: The final CV is much more professional, well-structured, and easy to read. It clearly reflects my skills, experience, and career goals as a full-stack developer. This process improved my attention to detail and helped me understand how to present myself effectively in a digital format.
Reflection on Mock Interview Video:
Situation: During my first attempt at the mock interview, I was less confident, and my responses felt shorter and less natural.
Task: My goal was to improve my interview performance by becoming more confident, answering questions more effectively, and presenting myself in a professional and natural way.
Action: I practised answering different types of interview questions and focused on improving my delivery. In my final interview recording, I spoke more clearly, stayed calm, and allowed my answers to flow naturally. I also answered more questions in detail and maintained better confidence throughout the interview.
Result: My final interview was significantly better. I appeared more confident, calm, and professional. My answers were clearer, more structured, and more natural. This experience helped me improve my communication skills and better prepare for real job interviews.
Reflection on GitHub Pages Portfolio:
Situation: My original GitHub profile and pages were basic and did not fully reflect my skills or professionalism as a final-year ICT student.
Task:
I needed to redesign and improve my GitHub Pages portfolio so that it would effectively showcase my work, CV, and interview in a professional and visually appealing way.
Action:
I completely rewrote my original GitHub profile and redesigned my GitHub Pages site. I improved the layout, structure, and content to make it more professional and aligned with industry expectations. I ensured that all sections, including my CV and mock interview, were clearly presented and easy to navigate.
Result: The final portfolio looks much more polished, professional, and suitable for a final-year student entering the workplace. It clearly showcases my skills and development. This process helped me improve both my technical and presentation skills, and I now feel more confident sharing my portfolio with potential employers.
